Clay: Donkey Family
Donkeys live long lives from 25-50 years old [30+ is old]. They form strong herd bonds. Many of the donkeys we have were able to keep a family member [Lucia and Pino, for example are from the same parents] but Old Matilda was taken from her daughters in the end. So I made a little family, that will never be separated. Grandmother, Grandfather and Mother and Child.
The two tallest are about 6", then 5" and baby is 3". Price is for the entire herd of 4.
These are earthenware and the glaze was inspired by my quest to find a glaze like a smooth river rock. I also realized my window in the studio looks out on the virgin snow fields, a pure, clean, smooth field of white, so undoubtedly was inspirational. The color is a creamy white.
The inside of the body is polka dots. Baby has a slight green smudge -donkeys are inquisitive and he helped in the glazing when I wasn't looking.
Pieces are carefully packaged in box within box for extra protection.
